I like to call where we live here in the Yucatan our “Hidden Gem”. However mind you people are most definitely finding out about this hidden paradise in the Yucatan. What is so wonderful about it here? And can you really purchase a little piece of heaven and live a stress free life?? Really can you? Sure you can. Let me share a few things with you...From my perspective life here in the Yucatan is like how it was back in Canada and the US in the 50’s and 60’s. Quite laid back. No real worries. You felt alot safer. And of course we all remember that everything was less expensive. We have no regrets about our decision in moving to the Yucatan in 2009 to start a new life and to raise our 3 year old son. |

You can choose to live in the beautiful Colonial City of Merida which is populated with over 1 million people. People describe Merida as a non Mexican city and more of a European city. And anything you can't find in those stores you will find in the local markets for a fraction of the cost of what it would be back home. |

Gulf Coast. Progreso which is the central and largest town is only a 20 minutes drive from Merida. We live on the beach in Chicxulub and just love that Progreso is an 8 minute drive and Merida is only 30 minutes away!
