Using Airbnb For The First Time – Our Wales Trip

Wales had been on our list of places to visit for a long time but whenever we came to booking trips it always seemed to get overlooked. It was my birthday back in May and when I opened my present from Ryan to find he’d booked us a long weekend away there I was so excited. We’d been looking on Airbnb a few weeks earlier at lots of different locations, Wales being one of them and we came across the most perfect little place called The Coach House which was tucked away in North Wales in the Snowdonia area, not far from Caernarfon. I’d said how much I would love to stay there, but then thought nothing else of it. Luckily Ryan had kept a mental note and this was where he had booked for us to stay!

We couldn’t have asked for a better time to be travelling to Wales, the weather was in the high 20’s and touching 30’s at some parts of the day so we completely lucked out with this.

Our Airbnb host was a lovely man called David and before arriving he had given us some directions on how to find the Coach House and really without these, we would never have found his place. The house is located down some very narrow streets in the countryside which a sat nav may not pick up. Once we found our way to our home for the weekend we were greeted by some amazing surroundings. The Coach House is even more beautiful than we could have imagined.

David greeted us on our arrival along with his HUGE pet dog. He gave us a quick tour of our home for the weekend along with some tips on where to go but most importantly where to find the best beach as it was a boiling hot day by the time we had arrived. David was so friendly and made us feel so welcome from the second we arrived.

The Coach House really was everything we had expected and a whole lot more. When you first walk in there is a small kitchen area where David had provided us with continental breakfast for the next morning, a selection of cereals, fruits, croissants and jams. The dining table was laid with beautiful china and it looked perfect.

As you walk through past the kitchen area you walk into a stunning lounge/bedroom. The photos on Air bnb do not do it justice. The room is full of beautiful furniture and we felt at home right away. The sofas are huge and amazingly comfy. In the corner there is a fireplace which with the very hot weather we had we didn’t use but said we’d love to go back in the winter as it would be so cosy. The bed was very comfortable and we both had some of the best nights sleep we had had in a while. The room is scattered with plenty of books, magazines and leaflets on Wales so there is plenty to read. There was a lovely big bunch of fresh flowers in the room too which was a perfect little touch.

Our favourite part was when we looked out of the window to find out of the back of the house were stables with some beautiful horses and small ponies that were right outside our window! What better view could we have asked for!

There are also beautiful gardens surrounding the house which David allows you to have free rein of. We didn’t get the chance to make the most of these unfortunately as we had so many activities planned for the short amount of time we were in Wales.

We loved our stay in The Coach House and would say it could well be our favourite place we have ever stayed. We don’t often stay in unique places like this, most of the time it’s just a hotel room with a bed and a bathroom so we really appreciated staying somewhere so special. We’re already planning on going back in the winter time to make the most of this cosy home!

Not only was this our first trip to Wales together it was our first experience of booking through Airbnb and we’ll definitely be booking through them again in the future. To find gems like the Coach House which you wouldn’t really find anywhere else makes it well worth a look when booking accommodation. We found Air bnb easy to use from start to finish and the personal contact we had with David throughout was great and really helpful. We couldn’t wait to meet him which you don’t usually get through other booking sites.

We couldn’t recommend visiting David’s Coach House enough and if you would like to book the house yourself and to get some more information the listing can be found here –
