Top places to visit with your partner in England

Travelling as a couple

If you are anything like us then you will find exploring and to Visit a new city is the best thing to do when you have a free weekend. We are always looking out for new and interesting places to go in the UK, if you are looking for some inspiration then check out our top places here;

Lake District

We have only seen a very small part of The Lake District but it is by far one of the most beautiful places in our country. We visited Windermere and Ambleside which are 2 towns very close to each other but we would definitely love to go back there soon to see more of it. The picturesque scenery everywhere you go in the Lake District makes it the perfect location for an English weekend break or holiday.

The views and the scenery you get here are some of the best you will find and if you visit the Lake District then one thing we would recommend is to research a good walking route and to go see them for yourselves. For more info check out our blog post on The Lake District

London

We have been to London plenty of times and have done plenty of different things. There is SO much to do in this city it’s unreal and it’s pretty much impossible to cover it all in one trip. There is still so much for us that we would like to do there that we haven’t had the chance to yet!

One of our favourite things to do when in London is to go to see a show in the West End. Some of our favourites that we have been to see are Matilda, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. To go for a nice meal and to see a show is for us a perfect evening in London after a long day of exploring the city.

Our favourite EVER place for breakfast, The Breakfast Club! A quirky little cafe based on the film. Beware of the queues; you can be waiting a really long time to get in as tourists love it. There are a few different Breakfast Club restaurants scattered over different areas of London.

Some of the typical tourist sights you need to go and see in London are Buckingham Palace, The London Eye, Big Ben, Oxford Street and the tower of London, just to name a few. A trip to London isn’t the same without seeing these.

Camden Market is also definitely worth a visit. It’s such a fun and different place with a really great food market.

We have visited at Christmas time and been to the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park which we would recommend.

A plan of where you want to go, what you want to do and how you are going to get to those places is a must. London is a VERY busy place so to have your trip organised and pre-book where you can is key.

Harry Potter studios

If you have read any of our other blog posts you will know we are the biggest Harry Potter fans! One of the best Harry Potter experiences you can get is the Warner Brothers Studio tour in Watford, we have been 5 times between the 2 of us!

Check out our blog post on the Harry Potter Studio Tour for more info –

Bath

Bath has got to be our favourite city in the UK. Home to some amazing roman baths, it is the place which we both say we would like to revisit the most. We had the best weekend in Bath, we visited a beautiful spa and did lots of exploring in the stunning city. For more info, check out our blog post –

Brighton

Brighton is our top seaside location in the UK! Seaside towns can be pretty run down and most of them are the same as the others, however, Brighton is completely different. It is modern, quirky and has so much to offer. There are lots and lots to see and do here, for more info, check out our blog post – Brighton – UK Best Seaside Destination

Stratford-Upon-Avon

Stratford-Upon-Avon is a brilliant place to visit, especially in the summer. It is the birthplace of William Shakespeare so there are a few things related to him to see such as his home and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. We saw Peter Pan at the theatre and it was great, we would really recommend going here.

The reason we say it is best to visit in the summer is that when the sun is shining it’s the perfect opportunity to take a boat ride down the River Avon.

North York Moors

We visited the North York Moors last summer with friends and stayed in the cutest cottage in a village called Danby. The scenery around the area and the view from the cottage were like some we have never seen before.

We went for a long walk through the moors in the sunshine which ended in a pub for a refreshing drink and it couldn’t have been more perfect!

Liverpool

Home to one of our favourite bands, The Beatles, Liverpool is an amazing place to visit! Yet another place we would love to revisit as we feel we didn’t spend long enough here.

The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour is a MUST thing to do if you are a fan. The tour takes you all around Liverpool visiting the band’s homes and learning all about them before they were famous and seeing where they got their inspiration for their amazing music. We highly recommend this tour, you learn some really interesting facts you may not have known before and it’s a great chance to see parts of Liverpool that you perhaps wouldn’t usually think to see.

Liverpool has a great city centre for shopping and eating out, there is plenty to see and do.

These are just a few of the great places to visit in England, As a couple, we love exploring new places together and what better place to explore than your home country when it has so much to offer!
