Water sports in Bali – Good Times in the Water

A veritable water sports mecca, Bali is one of the world’s foremost beach holiday destinations. There are a great variety of water sports activities on offer for you to try out during your holiday in Indonesia’s most popular tourist island. One of the most popular water sports that people the world over travel to Bali for is Surfing. Many a renowned Australian surfing pro has travelled to these shores in search of the perfect surf to ride. Spots on the island that are good for surfing include Uluwatu, Kuta, Canggu and Medewi.

If you don’t have your own board and want to rent out one or take some quick lessons, there are usually many independent water sports operators in areas like the Tanjung Benoa peninsula. They generally provide equipment rental as well as beginners lessons for a range of water sports in addition to surfing, such as boogie boarding, wind and kite surfing and jet skiing. The peninsula is also home to many a Benoa family resort as well as honeymoon resort, an example of the former being the Holiday Inn Resort Bali Benoa among several others in the area. The Benoa peninsula is, therefore, perfect both for those looking to have fun in the sun, sand and surf with the family and for those looking to enjoy a romantic holiday by the beach.

Another water-based activity that you can do in Bali is scuba diving. There are many great scuba diving spots in the surrounding waters of the Indian Ocean, whose waters are pleasantly mild the year-round. Examples of these spots include the Sanur Reef, Nusa Lembongan, Tulamben and Amed. Divers will find colourful coral reefs as well as exciting shipwreck sites to feast their gaze on during their underwater adventure, in addition to the abundance of marine wildlife that the waters teem with.
