Jungceylon Phuket Shopping Mall

Jungceylon Phuket in Patong is still the largest shopping mall in Phuket. It is almost a city within a city. With a lot of souvenirs shops and foot massage in the lower floor, many restaurants a lot of attractions in the upper floors, it is a perfect hideaway for tourists when it rains of when the heat becomes unbearable.

Located in the very center of Patong beach at the end of Soi Bangla, Jungceylon Shopping Center also features the Millennium Resort, a huge and popular hotel, plenty of restaurants, six rooms cinemas, a bowling and Big C a two storey supermarket. And the list goes on…

What to Do at Jungceylon Phuket

Perfect in case of rain, here is a quick list of all the fun things to do in Jungceylon:

Massage

Plenty of Foot Massage and ‘Thai Massage‘ at the underground level. Prices are good and it’s a great way to relax the day after party. Let’s not forget the ‘Fish Spa’ where supposedly hungry little suckers will ‘eat your dead skins’… Just try not to think who dipped his sick legs in this aquarium before you.

Bowling

Enjoy a 12 lanes Bowling with loud music and fluorescent flashing lights, pool tables, Karaoke boxes, pinballs and video game.

Kidzoona

A large playground for kids is now available at the top floor. It’s vast, colorful and all made of bouncy rubber so kids can have tons of fun in there. The team in charge seems to be attentive and responsible, parents can go for a short shopping spree knowing that kids are well taken care of.

Shell Museum

The Shell museum is a museum displaying… shells. A lot of shells… enough said.

Movie Theater

The main cinema consists of 6 Rooms Movie Theater. Next to it, 4D Mini Movie Theater is where you wear 3D glasses on moving seats and pay to get motion sickness going down a virtual roller coaster. Looks fun.

Water and Light show

A daily Water and Light show narrates the history of Phuket while will spray you all over when you pass by on a windy day.

Blue Facial Treatment

The latest trend in town. It’s fun to try and even more fun to watch: behind a large window a large amount of people comfortably installed on beds with some blue cream all over the face are well pampered by an army of beauticians… look closer: most people on the beds have beards, hairy chests and tattoos!… nothing wrong with it of course, but you might not expect men to occupy 80% of the beds ;). This business, started with Hanako Tokyo, became so popular and very lucrative, they opened two more, all competing for the modest sum of 299 Baht!

Evening Entertainment

Evening entertainment, is often given on the central plaza usually set as a biergarden: concerts, performance and live bands or exhibits.

SHOPPING at Jungceylon

Few brands are available in Jungceylon, mostly at Robinson Department Store and in the first building. ‘Big C’ is now the supermarket since Carrefour is gone. Apple shop, computer shops and a gigantic sport shops should keep you busy for a while. For phones, games and electronics, go to the top floor of the second building, next to the cinemas.

RESTAURANTS at JUNGCEYLON

Plenty of choice, but more pricey than anywhere else. Just to give you a scale: a double espresso at Starbucks is 100 Baht here while 80 Baht at Central Festival. The good side is that on a very hot day, you still can eat Thai food in an air con room.

Le Siam – just below Joe Louis and also serving a decent Thai food, maybe a bit less sophisticated. Not spicy and affordable.

MK Gold Suki – The luxury version of MK Suki, better quality of food, more choice, design and layout a bit more cozy and as you expect, more expensive. You also get a lot of ‘Wai’ in there (Polite Thai greeting).

Fuji Japanese Restaurant – A popular descent Japanese Restaurant. As it is a franchise, quality is consistent.

Shabushi – a fun concept of cooking you own food (and still pay for it). It’s like MK Suki, but you get your own boiling pot and the ingredients, such as meat and veggies, are constantly passing by on a moving track in front of you. Probably great for the kids, but choice is limited and quality is so-so.

La Casa – quite a good Italian restaurant originally from Patong Bay Garden on the beach road.

Hogs Breath – an Australian steakhouse franchise… expensive and not as good as you would expect from an Aussie steakhouse.

The classics: Subway, Burger King, 2 Starbucks, (yes! 2!) Haagen Dasz.

Useful Tips:

If you drive a car, you will soon find out how hard it is to park it anywhere near Soi Bangla in the evening. Park it at Jungceylon Shopping Mall and buy anything, or eat an ice cream… BUT keep your receipt! This way you can get free parking till late. You might have to pay 20 Baht until midnight and beyond that, up to 100 baht but it is still a bargain! (you will have to walk down the driving way since the shops close at midnight, but it’s easy to find near the disco). Now if you lost your receipt in your excitement to visit your first Go Go Bar, get ready to pay 190 Baht! Don’t miss:

The Banzaan Fresh Market located just behind Jungceylon Phuket has an amazing display of tropical fruits. You also can buy your fish at ground floor and take it to the restaurants upstairs to have cooked for a small fee.
