Kata Rocks

Kata Rocks

Kata Rocks is changing the face of luxury accommodation in Phuket and probably raised the bar in the whole of Thailand. There is no lack of fantastic pool villas in Phuket and quite a few also come with amazing sea views but Kata Rock is an experience on its own. A villa is usually a base from where you go around and do things but once you settle in a Kata Rocks apartment you will enjoy spending a lot of time in your room.

What instantly strikes the most is the incredible attention given to every single detail in the resort and we are not making a casual statement. We did stay in a lot of top of the line 5 star resorts and while we enjoyed all of them, we don’t get easily impressed. From every simple plug to the entire ambiance lighting and the entire usability of each room to the cutlery, you can tell the search for the best was nearly obsessive.

The rooms

The apartments at Kata Rocks are oversized with high ceilings and full floor to ceiling glass windows that slides away to open entirely on your terrace. Designed in a white minimalist sophisticated way. Every element has been precisely thought of, from the amazing kitchen cooking station to the smallest plug-in the wall, it is obvious that designers didn’t cut any corner. Exploring your room is part of the fun!

The living room was our dream layout with an immense cooking area on one side, a dining table in the middle next to a L shaped sofa in the living and the infinity swimming pool is waiting for you just outside. This living area is perfectly designed for a family holiday.

The cooking station is vast and fun to play with, high-tech and designed with simple elegant lines. Best of all, hood and electric plugs are hidden in the immense island and majestically appear when needed. The immense drawers reveal a huge collection of cutlery, designers plates, glasses and cooking accessories.

The main bedroom also faces the ocean and the view from your bed in the morning is worth every baht. Apart from the view you can’t miss the large flat screen embedded right above you in the ceiling. Such a nice touch! The terrace, which also comes with a full wall sliding glass, comes with a big open air Jacuzzi and if that’s not enough for your pleasure there is also a large bathtub in the very large bathroom (we don’t have to add that there is also a big rain shower…)

The private infinity pool is where you probably will spend a lot of time. It big enough and you can buy a giant inflatable pink flamingo to float and bask in the sun all day. With stunning views on Kata Bay, this is a good as a holiday can get!

The room also comes with washing machine and dryer, which is a very nice touch if you come as a family.

Restaurant

There is only one restaurant at Kata Rocks but with rooms being so well designed for in-house dining you will not need more. The restaurant is set by the side of their famous infinity pool so make sure you come a bit before sunset to enjoy some of Kata Rocks famous cocktails made from their own gin. As the sun disappears the atmosphere is very romantic and food is superb. We had dinner twice and it was perfect, just like everything else during our stay.

As we are in Phuket we enjoyed the seafood platter most, but also xxx and xxxx. The choice of wines by the glass is great, and if you are a wine lover go and have a look at the big wine cellar just below the restaurant… they even have that Pennfold Grange if you can afford it.

Spa is known to be extremely popular but we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it. Shame on us.

Fitness

Just like the entire resort, the fitness room is equipped with state of the art machines and equipment. It’s actually a bit confusing if you are used to classic setting. The room is large and some of the treadmills even have a sea views!

Service

Kata Rocks being at the top of the luxury pyramid you expect the service to be flawless and you wont be disappointed. The ‘rock stars’ as the team call themselves are super friendly and attentive, always with a nice personal word and a suggestion.

Our Verdict Kata Rocks

Kata Rock

What we loved

Pretty much everything but to reinforce what we described in the review:
Attention to every single details
Infinity pool
Service

What we didn’t

The hillside setting make it hard to go from your room to the main areas or to drive out to town. You pretty much need to call a buggy for any movement.
