Scoot, the low-cost, medium-to-long haul arm of Singapore Airlines, is planning more long-haul routes.
The airline, which is about to launch a new Asia-Europe corridor between Singapore and Athens, has foreshadowed a tripling of its long-haul offerings over the next two-to-three years.
Announcements on additional routes are expected in coming months.
News of Scoot’s plans came as the airline took delivery of its latest Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, equipped with Crew Bunks necessary for direct long haul services.
Fittingly named ‘Mous-Scoot-Ka’ – after the popular Greek dish, Moussaka – the plane is the first of four such Dreamliners that will join the airline’s fleet this year.

CEO, Lee Lik Hsin, said Scoot’s “extensive footprint in Asia-Pacific provided a good base of connecting traffic for long-haul services”.
Scoot and its sister airline, Tigerair, currently have a network of 59 cities in 16 countries.
Dr. Dinesh Keskar, of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said the Dreamliner’s long range, features and unparalleled fuel efficiency allowed the airline to be remain a game changer and profitably open new nonstop routes such as Singapore-to-Athens.
Scoot says its latest Dreamliners will carry 329 guests with 18 in the ScootBiz section. In comparison, the airline’s existing 787-8 aircraft without crew bunks accommodate 335 with 21 ScootBiz seats.

Each of new aircraft has been installed with overhead crew rests with six bunks to ensure that crew members receive their mandatory rest during long-haul flights.
Such long-haul flights are usually crewed by a team of 10 to 11 cabin crew members, compared to eight for shorter regional flights.
The new-generation features and comfort of the Dreamliners – along with the affordability of Scoot’s services – attract passengers of all ages – including older travellers.
