Today I have a brand new set of free Rotten wood Textures that I shot this weekend. These images are from an old driftwood that I walked upon by the sea. The wood has been rotting away for years and is filled with holes, cracks and other wonderful details. It’s probably been a while since it was in the sea, so it was dry and cracking, making it a great subject for a new texture set.

After a small color and sharpness tuning in Lightroom these turned out great, giving out a bit of a gloomy and dark effect. I’m positive that these textures will serve great as a cool grungy background for text and images as well as being usable as photo-overlays to give your photographs a vintage effect.

These 7 free wood backgrounds are in highest quality, the zip file containing them all is around 135Mb which you can download directly via Dropbox (no account needed).
