Procreation Day-Day of Conception-is a Russian holiday that celebrates a day to make a baby. You read that right. On September 12th, Russia gives couples the day off to try and conceive a child. 

If they’re successful and give birth nine months later on June 12th, the rewards are plentiful. June 12th marks Russia’s national day. In celebration, families who give birth to children on this day receive cars, money, and prizes. 

2. You’ll Need a Lot of Watches

If you’re used to Pacific, Eastern, and Central time, pack up more than one watch when you visit Russia. 

Russia has more times zones than Santa has reindeer. Peaked at 11 at one point, Russia reaches weird heights with nine time zones. Plan on doing a lot of resetting if you go for a visit.

You say tomatoes, we say Vodka! Russia is the drinking capital of the world. Critics believe the country’s drinking itself to death.
