Cineworld Unlimited or Odeon Limitless – which is better value?

If you’re a movie buff, you probably spend a fair bit of money at the Cinema. But have you thought about getting a cinema membership to save money?

Cineworld Unlimited and Odeon Limitless are the two big cinema memberships in the UK. You pay a set price each month and you can then see as many films as you want at the cinema chain. If you go to the cinema every week, it can mean you can save a few quid across the month.

But which one is better value – Cineworld Unlimited or Odeon Limitless? Let’s find out.

How much do they cost?

Odeon Limitless costs £17.99 a month for most of the UK. If you want to include central London cinemas, you’ll pay £19.99 a month. You’ll sign up for least 12 months. But if you lose or break your card, you’ll pay £5 for a replacement.

For Cineworld Unlimited, the standard monthly subscription is £17.40. To include London West End cinemas, you’ll have to pay £19.90 a month. Just like Odeon, you have to sign up for a minimum of 12 months. And if you lose your Cineworld Unlimited card, you have to pay £10 for a new one.

What don’t they include?

Your Odeon Limitless membership doesn’t include everything. You’ll have to pay extra for 3D and IMAX screenings, as well as any premier seating. You’ll also have to pay if you want to see any special screenings – like when they show a sports or music event.

Cineworld Unlimited works in a similar way – no 3D, IMAX or special seating included. But it does offer an extra benefit for loyal users. Sign up for another year after your first 12 months and you’ll get the black Cineworld Unlimited card. This includes 3D films and a few other benefits.

Where are the cinemas?

Odeon is a bigger cinema chain than Cineworld. It has over 100 cinema locations across the UK, in comparison to Cineworld’s 82. So depending on where you live in the UK, you’re more likely to live closer to an Odeon Cinema.

What’s the best cinema membership?

So which cinema membership is the winner? Well, it really depends on what your nearest cinema is. Cineworld Unlimited has a slightly better offering with cheaper membership and more benefits.

But if you don’t live anywhere near a Cineworld, you’re better off going for Odeon Limitless. This is still a good deal and you’ll only need to go to the cinema two or three times a month to make it worth it.

Don’t get a cinema membership if you rarely go to the movies. You might be better off having a cinema night in at home – and you could get Netflix, Now TV or Amazon Prime to save on this.
