Valentine’s Day Peanut Butter Cookies
If you look through all our recipes you’ll easily realize that we love Peanut Butter around here. I’m often searching out new ways to use peanut butter in dessert recipes! But today I have a traditional recipe with a Valentine’s Day twist on it – peanut butter cookies.
This recipe is perfect for letting the kiddos help and get involved. They’ll have a lot of fun making these delicious treats! My youngest helped me make some for her class Valentine’s Day party last year and they were a hit with all the kids.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cup self-rising flour
- 10 oz. bag Resee’s Peanut Butter Filled Hearts
Directions:
- Preheat over to 375°
- In a large bowl, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, shortening, butter, egg and peanut butter with mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon.
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place a few inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until light brown.
- Press Resee’s Peanut Butter Hearts into each cookie immediately after coming out of oven
- Decorate as desired with sprinkles or icing
