Could you really save Money going to work, as well as when you’re there?
Here’s what we think.
111. Could you commute with a colleague, friend or neighbour?
Commuting with a colleague, friend or neighbour can brighten up your journey.
Also, if you both currently drive to work, you can alternate who drives, saving you both money on gas.
112. Do you really need a second car?
Instead of getting a second car, why not see if you could get the bus or train to work?
Would a motorcycle make more financial sense and make going to work more fun if you’re currently always stuck in traffic and spending a fortune on gas?
113. Could you walk to work?
If you live close enough, you might be able to walk to work.
As well as saving money you’ll be getting plenty of fresh air and exercise too.
114. Could you ride your bike to work?
If you’re feeling brave enough, you could ride your bike instead of driving or getting the bus or train.
You’ll soon get much fitter, and feel better when you arrive too.
You might need to make sure there is somewhere to change and have a shower when you get to work though!
115. Could you take your lunch with you?
Instead of buying lunch out every day, why not make something and take it to work with you?
Perhaps you’ll alternate sandwiches, with last night’s leftovers, or batch cook some different dishes at the weekend and take them every day.
Again, getting organized when it comes to lunches can save you a lot of time and money.
116. Could you make a drink at home?
Rather than visiting a coffee shop on the way to work, why not buy an insulated cup and take a coffee from home instead?
The $4 or so you spend daily will soon become $20 a week saved.
Again, whether you decide to save it for something in particular or just want more money in the bank at the end of the month, you’ll be better off.
117. Could you keep a drink with you?
Keeping a Drink bottle with you means you won’t need to buy a water, coffee or soda when you’re thirsty.
Remember, the same goes for when you’re out with the kids too.
118. Could you work from home?
Ask your boss if you can work from home or other location once a week to save you money on commuting.
Making better use of technology, and getting organized in advance could mean that you’re more productive and efficient at home than you are in the office.
Obviously, this won’t be suitable for everybody though.
So if you work in a shop or factory, or are a delivery driver, don’t be surprised if your boss says no!
119. Could you change your working hours?
Ask your boss if you can start work earlier or later to avoid traffic jams, or expensive travel tickets.
Again this won’t be applicable for everyone. If you’re a police officer, or a teacher, you probably can’t change your start time!
120. Could you change your job?
If you’re not a happy with your job, why not see what else is out there?
Perhaps you’ll find something that pays better, or something that means you don’t need to commute as far, or that means you don’t need your second car.
Maybe it won’t pay any more, but means that you’re happier, which will definitely please you and your family!
