1. Get plenty of sleep. Going into an audition with bags under your eyes won’t make a good first impression and there won’t be any make-up girl present to save you. Only you know how much Sleep your Body needs so make sure you give it what it wants.

2. Drink plenty of water. When you starve your body of water, you rob yourself of energy. Keeping yourself hydrated ensures that you’re running on all cylinders when you need to perform.

3. Eat carbohydrates 1 hour before going in to read. Carbs are not the evil the media has made them out to be. Your body needs carbs for energy and does a better job utilizing them compared to protein. What this means is that a baked potato or plate of pasta will give you more energy than a chicken breast or a couple of eggs.

4. Meditate. Meditation clears the mind, distancing you from your daily problems and clearing out the clutter so you can focus on the task at hand. As you meditate, listen to the sounds around you. This lets you relate to your environment and creates awareness, important to every actor.

5. Stretch. When you go in for a read, you want to be limber. Taking 10 minutes to do some basic stretching will put your body’s muscles at ease. When your muscles are loose, you feel loose and you give a better performance
