The Forests of Our Youth

Tags: forests youth

We walked through the Forests of our youth

Together,

But the trees dropped their leaves

Too soon.

The flowers, though fain to fight

The onset of autumn,

 Succumbed to frost,

Petals falling in a final flash of color.

Two paths diverged,

And I, ever the wanderer,

Forged my own way,

But you – you did not follow.
