Freedom child

I climbed the highest mountain tops
Where my tears turned to dew drops;
I asked the echoes where he is,
But their silence was thicker than his.

Then I went and asked a wandering breeze
To help me set my mind at ease.
“Does he miss me still?” I said,
But it moved past me instead.

So I begged the sea to let me know
If he’s truly let me go,
If he stands alone on the shore
Without a name to call for.

They all told me from the start,
“Dear girl, be gentle with your heart,
Break the chains of his memory
And let yourself be finally free.”
