GoDaddy's Website Builder Introduces Google My Business Integration

The publicly traded internet domain registrar and web hosting company GoDaddy has plenty of services and tools that help small businesses establish a presence online.

And here it's ramping up its effort by integrating itself with Google My Business (GMB) using its GoCentral, which is GoDaddy's mobile-optimized website builder, provides folks with tools they can use to create sites that render well on smartphones and desktop PCs alike along with Facebook pages that can help promote a business on social media.

With the integration, GoCentral allows users to create a Google My Business account that displays their business's hours, phone number, and location in Google Search and Maps results.

The GoDaddy GoCentral and Google My Business integration is available as part of GoCentral Business Plus and Online Store plans.

Google My Business is the search giant's business free listing service. Small business owners can use it to keep their operating hours, phone numbers and other information updated so that their listings are accurate throughout Google Search and Google Maps.

And with GoCentral, business data from the website is uploaded to GMB and verification is compressed from weeks to days. GoDaddy’s Nissim Lehyani said that at the time of announcement, no other SMB website building competitor offer similar capability.

After users' GMB has been reviewed and verified, GoDaddy can also report on GMB-driven traffic and related actions: profile/listings views, calls, directions requests and website visits.

Here, GoCentral acts like the manager to users' GMB account.

Together, GoCentral and GMB provide GoDaddy customers with a one-stop toolkit for managing their small business websites and Google listings.

Lehyani said that most eligible small businesses (service area businesses or those with a physical location) have not claimed their GMB profiles. And here, according to Lehyani, GoDaddy is "trying to reduce friction" around claiming and populating GMB listings.

Another feature of the GoCentral-GMB integration, GoDaddy can provide stock photography if there’s no available high-resolution image from the business itself.

The company said that during its beta test of the new integration, 1,538 organizations used GoCentral to create GMB listings. Those listings attracted over a million views, 17,000 clicks to their website and over 7,000 phone calls, according to GoDaddy's estimates.

GoDaddy reports that it hosts more than 10 million websites globally and has 17 million total customers. The majority of these customers are small merchants and SMB entrepreneurs.
