San Diego Metro Report: March 2018

The Zumper San Diego Metro Report analyzed active listings in February across 15 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California state median was $1,842 last month.

Cities Ranked By Rent

The Most Expensive

–Coronado, CA rent dropped another $150 last month to $2,670 but remained the priciest in the metro.

–Solana Beach, CA saw rent grow $70 to $2,600, ranking as the second most expensive.

–Encinitas, CA was third with rent at $2,020.

The Least Expensive

–El Cajon, CA fell down a spot to become the most affordable city in the metro with one bedrooms priced at $1,280.

–National City rent grew $20 to $1,290 and moved up one spot to rank as the second least expensive.

–Imperial Beach, CA moved up two spots to rank as third with rent at $1,330.

Growth Rate

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

–Poway, CA had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 15.8%.

–Coronado, CA rent had the second largest year over year growth rate, climbing 15.6%.

–Encinitas & Chula Vista, CA tied for third with prices growing 15.4%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

–San Diego, CA rent was the fastest growing last month, jumping 5.3%.

–San Marcos, CA followed closely behind as second with rent climbing 5.2%.

–Chula Vista, CA rent increased 4.9% last month, making it the third fastest growing.
