The Zumper Phoenix Metro Report analyzed active listings in January across 11 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Arizona one bedroom median was $979 last month.
Cities Ranked By Rent
The Most Expensive
–Scottsdale, AZ rent dropped $20 to $1,340 but remained the most expensive in the metro.
–Gilbert, AZ ranked as second with one bedrooms priced at $1,140.
–Peoria, AZ moved up on spot, and past Chandler, to rank as third with rent at $1,070.
The Least Expensive
–Glendale, AZ saw rent increase $40 to $770 but continued to be the most affordable in the metro.
–Mesa, AZ was the second least expensive city with rent at $870.
–Avondale, AZ rent dropped $10 to $920 and fell behind Phoenix’s to rank as third.
Growth Rate
The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
–Gilbert, AZ had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, climbing 15.2%.
–Chandler, AZ followed closely behind as second with rent up 14%.
–Peoria & Goodyear, AZ tied for third with rent growing 13.8%.
The Fastest Growing (M/M%)
–Glendale, AZ rent had the largest monthly growth rate in the metro, up 5.5%.
–Surprise, AZ ranked as second with rent climbing 5.1% last month.
