This February we will see sales that are mainstays in the auction calendar for Sotheby’s and Christies. Borro has picked out the top 3 auctions that you won’t want to miss, with assets worth investing in this year.
RM Sotheby’s Paris: 8th February

The sale is back for the fourth year running at the Place Vauban on 8th February. This year’s expected star of the show is this 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo P3 which is expected to raise €5 million (£4.34 million). It was only one of three examples originally fitted with Dubonnet independent front suspension. This sale is one of the top auctions for car collectors so you won’t want to miss it.
Sotheby’s Finest and Rarest Wines: 25th February in London

Sotheby’s regularly hosts a fine and rare wine auction, selling exceptional wine to the most enthusiastic of collectors. The auction in February 2016 raised £777,580, the top lot being a collection of Romanée-Conti 1976 which raised £14,688. This year the top lot is 1971 La Tache, estimated at £67,562. The wine market is set to grow, so if you’re looking to invest in wine this auction is the perfect place to start.
Christie’s Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale: 28th February in London

This sale is a favorite of Christies, and often has bidders battling it out for the rare works of art that are fresh to the market. This time last year the auction raised £66,362,004, with this Egon Schiele earning £8,474,916. Which painting is likely to be the top lot this year? All will be revealed on February 28th.
