With so many new car features available nowadays, there are fewer and fewer ways to set one vehicle apart from another. One key area, however, is safety - and the IIHS recently announced their annual Top Safety Pick awards, and one SUV at the top of the list was non other than the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ is one of the most coveted safety accolades in the industry - and getting one is a major accomplishment. To earn one, a vehicle must be put through a series of crashworthiness tests, which include the Small Overlap Front, Moderate Overlap Front, Side, Roof Strength and Head Restraints/Seats. The Hyundai Santa Fe earned a rating of ‘Good’ on every one, which is the highest grade available. Next, for vehicles equipped with Automatic Emergency Braking, the Front Crash Prevention test is administered, and the 2017 Santa Fe earned a ‘Superior’ grade. 

Headlights and the LATCH safety seat system were also reviewed, each earning a ‘Good’ and ‘Acceptable’ score, respectively. Available safety features found in the new 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe include:
