FlowWorks – SCADA Incorporation

Water Online recently published an Interview about how Scada Systems are a great asset and can be utilized to mitigate and mitigate overflows.

In the interview they highlight some of the differences between Scada systems implemented in wastewater treatment and systems of the drinking water side.

It then goes on to talk about the environmental consequences that occur from sewage overflows. Specifically the affect it can have on public health and safety. There are numerous municipalities who have received consent decrees to upgrade their infrastructure and the fines that  can result from overflow are quite staggering.

The interview then talks about how automation can prevent future overflows. Specifically how it can predict the flow and notify the proper authorities to proactively handle it.

With SCADA systems, keeping the integrity of data is vital. Flowworks allows you to do a lot more than just store and plot data. Utilizing FlowWorks enables you to incorporate all of your monitoring data with your SCADA system. For example, you are able to plot flow data from your treatment plant with rainfall data collected by your loggers. You are also able to add laboratory measurement results. Alarming also is a key factor. Within FlowWorks  you are able to set-up your own custom alarms for each user without the extra corporate overhead.
