McArthur River Mine planned increase in production as part of its Phase 3 Development Project will see the expanded use of Xstrata Technology’s IsaMills .

Gujarat NRE is one step closer to developing its next longwall operation, Longwall 5, after the NSW Department of Planning recommended its approval.

Blackham Resources’Matilda gold mine, in WA, scoping study and initial openpit mine design for has proven that the project could deliver as much as 150 000 oz of gold over four years. BHP Billiton’s profit and net operating cash flows are at the second highest level in the company’s 127 year history. New Hope Group have put forward updated plans for the expansion of the New Acland mine which includes moving the their coal loading facility at Jondaryan.

Argent Minerals would launch an EIS and FS for the Stage 1 development of its Kempfield silver project, in NSW. The EIS and feasibility study would be based on a heap leach design to produce gold and silver.

Apollo Minerals’ Commonwealth Hill iron-ore project SA has indicated the potential for a competitive iron-ore operation. The recent scoping study estimated that the project could deliver some 2.5Mtpa of product.

Mineral Resources
concluded a four-year $558M syndicated loan facility and guarantee facility to provide funding for the recently awarded plant installations and additional resources for the anticipated new contracting work.

Rio Tinto’s $1.8B plans for the Yandicoogina iron-ore project, in the east Pilbara has been approved by the WA Govt. Rio was looking to expand the nameplate capacity to 56-Mtpa, extending its life-of-mine to 2021.

Venture Mineral’s Mount Lindsay tin/tungsten project BFS has predicted that the project could generate more than $550M in net revenue, peaking at some $110M/year.

Saracen Mineral has secured a $50M facility debt financing for the expansion of its Whirling Dervish open pit operation and the Stage 1 upgrade of the processing plant at its Carouse Dam operations. The plant expansion would involve the introduction of tertiary crushing and a new screenhouse erected at the end of the current two-stage crushing circuit.

Regis Resources has given a letter of intent to project house Maca for a mining services contract worth an estimated $220M over the proposed Rosemont gold project WA.

Arrow Energy plan to build 2 LNG trains from get go. They will also build a tunnel under the harbour for the pipeline. Overall there will be 12 – 18 central processing facilities within Qld for the 10,000 or so wells over a 30 year period. BG Group would sell a portion of its interest in the Curtis LNG project to China National Offshore Oil Corporation in a deal worth $1.93B. Under a heads of agreement signed CNOOC would acquire a 40% equity interest in the train 1 liquefaction facility, increasing its ownership in the project.

Browse has been given environmental approval to develop its $30B LNG project.

APA Group has acquired Hastings Diversified Utilities Fund.

Energy Developments is to construct the 53MW McArthur River Mine power plant expansion project. They have secured a 20-year contract to extend the power supply agreements.

Development work is under way on increasing the capacity of the Goldfields Gas Pipeline with the upgrading of two existing compressor stations and, in an entirely separate project, the construction of two new compressor stations 100km to the east.

Energy Australia is waiting for the final board decision to proceed with construction of the $1.4B – 500MW Blackstone project, Qld. Development approvals for the project were granted recently, and the company is expecting the financial closure early 2013.

NRW has won a $32M contract to upgrade Rio Tinto’s West Angelas mine’s road.

Transfield has been awarded the $200M contract to provide maintenance and operations services to QGC’s upstream CSG assets. The contract will last for five years to include processing plants, compression stations, approximately 2,000 operational gas wells and connecting infrastructure.

ProSep has won a pair of contracts to supply equipment for the giant Ichthys LNG project marking the Canadian outfit’s first deal through its majority-owned joint venture with South Korean construction firm Kolon Group.

The Nomura Research Institute and the consulting arm of Britain’s Tata Steel have taken on early research on the Iron Boomerang proposal, with an agreement signed to develop a feasibility study for a plan to develop a $50B – 3000km rail link from WA’s iron ore mines with QLD’s Abbott Point Coal Terminal.

Queensland Rail has announced plans for 10 new coal-train sidings as part of a $130M train fuelling and maintenance facility at Hexam.

Thiess and Macmahon have been awarded a $762M government contract to design and deliver the upgrade of the Pacific Highway between Frederickton and Eungai.

The Qld Govt is currently assessing $78B worth of significant construction projects with the potential to create 40,000 jobs.

Thiess has been awarded two new contracts for BMA’s Caval Ridge coal mine. The contracts, valued at around $220 million, are for the construction of a coal handling and preparation plant and rail loop, which are approximately $125M and $95M in value respectively. The CHPP contract will be carried out by Thiess’s specialist industrial projects team. The rail contract includes engineering design and the project will comprise of earthworks and excavation ahead of track lagging and installation of signalling, overhead power, and communication systems.

Abigroup has been awarded two major Rio Tinto contracts in the state’s north. Under the deal, the contractor will build a railway and conduct associated civil works for Rio’s rail capacity enhancement project near Karratha in the Pilbara region. The project will include the duplication of approximately 60km of Rio’s existing Cape Lambert to Emu railway formation including bulk earthworks, drainage works, two rail bridges, new access roads and associated works, as well as upgrading Rio’s existing Emu siding facilities. Works are scheduled to begin immediately, with completion expected in early 2014.

Leighton Contractors will build operations and control infrastructure for the Ichthys project under a $126M deal. The work covered construction of an “Operations Complex” that included an operations office and central control building, among other facilities. The project also included the rollout of some “associated infrastructure”.

Monadelphous has been awarded a $80M contract to provide maintenance services at QGC’s Curtis plant.

CPC Engineering has been awarded the front end engineering and design contract for expansion of the historical plant at its wholly-owned Nimbus silver-zinc-gold project.

Monadelphous has been awarded by BHP Billiton and Mitsubishi a $100m contract to construct the coal handling plant at the Caval Ridge mine. The contract was for the provision of civil, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical and instrumentation work for the coal handling plant.

Bonfiglioli have been installed in ThyssenKrupp’s new stacker reclaimers at Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine their heavy duty, fully coupled drive combinations.
