5 Spectacular Australian Roads for Peugeot 5008 Driving

The Peugeot 5008 is not just a classy looking European SUV; it’s also an excellent vehicle for touring our best Aussie roads. Although it’s no hot hatch, the 5008 is perfect for sedate touring, and the driver feedback is impressive for an SUV. In this article, we will look at five Australian roads that you must drive in your new Peugeot 5008.

1. Northern Territory, Lasseter Highway

This represents road tripping at its best; there are amazing 360º views right up to the horizon on a clear day. This 244 km stretch of road connects Uluru East to Stuart Highway to take in some of the most impressive landscapes in Australia. This is the perfect touring environment for the 5008, so slip on your shades, roll down the windows, turn up the music and cruise through the best natural beauty that the Northern Territory has to offer.

2. South Australia, Adelaide Hills

This area has become famous over the years for the Targa and Classic Adelaide rallies and the Tour Down Under cycling racing. The Adelaide Hills are an impressive network of pure driving roads with a breathtaking backdrop. This is why so many dedicated drivers hit these roads each and every weekend. This driving experience is sure to keep every dedicated driver happy, and every route will put a smile on their face.

3. New South Wales, Mount Panorama

Many petrolheads may already know about Mount Panoramas reputation as a racing track. However, this is actually a public road that has a vertical difference of 17m between the entry and exit points. In fact, some gradients are as steep as 1:6, which can make it an interesting challenge for those seeking an unusual driving experience. On a non racing day, it’s free to drive the circuit in both directions, but there is a speed limit of 60km/h that’s strictly enforced by the police.

4. Victoria, Lake Mountain Road

The Lake Mountain Resort is a popular family friendly destination for skiers and casual visitors. However, the road leading to and from this location is a magnet for dedicated drivers looking for the best drives. In fact, Top Gear Australia named the Lake Mountain Road as one of the best driving roads in Australia. This is not a particularly challenging drive to undertake, but the ascent into the Yarra Ranges National Park is absolutely breathtaking. As you cruise up or down the mountain, you will have plenty of relaxing driving and ample time to enjoy the unique scenery generated by the Black Saturday bushfire disaster.

5. Victoria, Great Ocean Road

We stay in Victoria for our last entry; the Great Ocean Road is a 243 km stretch of highway built to honour our soldiers killed in WW2. This is easily one of the best touring roads in Australia, and many global visitors come here to enjoy the surfing. There are also sheer limestone cliffs and isolated pockets of rain forest to drive through. There a plenty of great stopping points to enjoy fine dining and visit local wineries or picturesque seaside towns.
