In the Russian Federation they want to limit private mining under the pretext of increased fire danger

Head of the “United Russia” faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergey Neverov considers it necessary to limit the mining of crypto-currency in conditions when it creates a danger for people.

“We already have very serious facts when fires occurred. The first steps that the Duma should take are to limit such unprofessional people who act to the detriment of others, “Neverov said.

He, in particular, had in mind the  fire in the city of Artem, Primorye Territory ,  which occurred in early February, allegedly due to the fault of the miner. Then in the multi-storey house eight apartments were burned, and dozens were flooded with water.

“Mining leads to an increase in electricity consumption, therefore, when the production of crypto currency is produced in conditions that are not designed for such a load, do not have the required level of fire safety, this poses a threat to life,” added the head of the Duma faction.
Recall that in the   draft law on crypto-currencies, submitted by the Ministry of Finance on January 25, their extraction is classified as entrepreneurial activity. In the concept of mining regulation,  developed by the  Ministry of Communications, it was proposed to provide special rates and quotas for electricity to miners. Miners were supposed to be identified by the characteristics of electricity consumption and Internet traffic by the Ministry of Energy. However, the idea of reducing tariffs for power engineers was not met with support, and the creation of a subdivision for the search for hidden mining was proposed to be economically justified.
