The process of buying millennials is changing the automotive industry

In these times that are running we hear and read a lot the word Millennials, which is also known as generation Y, which are those born in the last two decades of the twentieth century. Probably some do not agree with this definition in terms of the years in which this generation begins and ends, since there are different opinions on this, which can be  read in Wikipedia .

These “young adults”, who approximately range from 25 to 37 years old, began to listen to music with radio cassettes and called their friends from landlines. This generation adapted quickly to technological advances and today they represent 21% of the population in Europe and 12% of the market for car purchases in that continent.

All generations have produced major changes in society, but according to an internal SEAT study, one of the characteristics of millennials is that their automobile purchasing process has changed the Automotive Industry.

According to the head of Market Research and Product Strategy of SEAT, Enrique Pastor, millennials:

They spend an average of nine weeks until they close the purchase. As they are more informed and have relatively less experience in the process of buying a car, they also take longer to make a decision.

For example, according to the SEAT study for 40% of the millennials buyers, the exterior of the automobile is one of the main reasons of purchase and for 33% of the millennials between 25 and 30 years of age, the automobile is considered as an expression of their personality and of course they want the vehicle to reflect their style.

Next, they have an infographic developed by SEAT that offers us more information about Millennials and automobiles
