Summer is right around the corner and with it brings the endlessly inspiring Maui Film Festival! Visitors and residents alike look forward to the five days and nights of film premieres, panels, and tributes. Each year over 1000 films are submitted, curated, and reviewed until the Festival team compiles a directory that will satisfy just about any movie buff. And the 19thAnnual Maui Film Festival is sure to not disappoint!
As the Hawaiian sun turns Maui’s southern coast golden, The Taste of Summer party kicks the festivities off with cosmically inspired cocktails and creative treats from local culinary artists. Guests are then invited to wrap up this 21 or over evening with a double feature as the sky fades to intense shades of sunset! The Taste of Chocolate and the Taste of Wailea will also be hosted throughout the week for attendees to immerse themselves into extraordinary flavors and to enjoy mouthwatering island specialties.
Films will be showing every day at either Maui Arts & Cultural Center or the Celestial Cinema on the Wailea Golf Course and Maui eateries will also be available for purchase within the venue to enjoy during the event! Parking
For the Celestial Cinema, parking will be located at the Wailea Resort Event Parking Lot. As you approach Wailea from Piilani Highway (HWY 31), you will find the festival parking at the top of Wailea Ike Drive. A free shuttle service, provided by Akina Tours and Transportation will take attendees to and from the event. The Maui Arts & Cultural Center Parking Lot will be available for those attending the Castle Theater films.
Will Call
For those whose tickets have been left at will call, the ticketing counter will be located in the lobby of Gannon’s Restaurant and Gold & Emerald Golf Course Pro Shop. The complimentary shuttle service will drop festival attendees off in the front of ticket pick-up and the theatre lawn is just a short stroll from there!
Seating
Aside from the extra events, what makes this festival so special to the Maui community is the outdoor venue. Seating is out on the green, so be sure to bring either low-back chairs, pillows and blankets are recommended for your comfort. Kahana Village amenities do include beach gear that you might find perfect. And for those who happened to forget something to sit on in all the excitement, chair rentals are available for purchase. We suggest arriving early as seating is on a first come, first serve basis!
Alcoholic Beverages
While the “Taste” events are 21 years or older, the cinema itself is an alcohol-free venue. As a family-friendly festival, no coolers will be allowed on the premises but refreshments are available for purchase within the location.
