Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has the look of futuristic cities imagined by sci-fi writers and movie-makers of the 1920s and 1930s – complete with attractions exploring space and time. This complete guide to Tomorrowland shares all the attractions, entertainment options, dining, and shopping.
Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom
Instead of the “serious” look at the “real” future of the original Tomorrowland, which opened in 1971, the version created later showcases a “fantasy” world where shiny robots do the work, planet-hopping rocket ships battle space aliens and time-machine travel becomes a thrilling “reality” along the Avenue of Planets.
The overall effect is a friendly future-town neighborhood atmosphere like other lands in the Magic Kingdom.
Tomorrowland is located right after Main Street U.S.A. in the right corner of the park.
Tomorrowland Attractions

Space Mountain – Rising 183 feet above the futuristic Tomorrowland scenery, Space Mountain has taken millions of Magic Kingdom guests on a thrilling roller coaster ride through the cosmos since it opened at Walt Disney World Resort in 1975. Guests board six-passenger trains that rocket through tunnels of flickering neon lights, then begin a rapid descent along an intricate and dark track. The spatial-effects lighting, sprinkling the inner-heavens with galaxies of stars, darting meteors and glowing space vehicles, sets the stage for an adventure as close to a cosmic voyage as most people will ever experience.
Ride Tips: Get a Fastpass+ for this ride. Even the Fastpass line can be a bit long at times. Guests must be at least 44 inches tall to experience Space Mountain. This ride offers a ride photo.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – Armed with infrared lasers, Magic Kingdom guests join forces with Buzz Lightyear to defend Earth’s supply of batteries from the evil Emperor Zurg in Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, a spinning, brought-to-life Tomorrowland spin-off of the hit movie “Toy Story.” The shoot-’em-up fun triggers sight and sound gags, while a lighted display inside toy-spaceship vehicles allows guests to keep score.
Ride Tips: Try to get a Fastpass+ for this ride, most of the time you can get one after your first three choices. Attractions Magazine has some great tips for getting a high score on this ride so you can become a Galatic Hero! This ride offers a ride photo.
Stitch’s Great Escape! – Set before the events of Walt Disney Pictures’ animated comedy “Lilo & Stitch,” this humorous adventure showcases the pandemonium caused by the mischievous Experiment 626 – a.k.a. Stitch – at the Galactic Federation Prisoner Teleport Center. ***This attraction is currently closed and sometimes opens during peak periods or has Stitch greeting guests.***
Ride Tips: You do not need a Fastpass+ for this attraction. Even on busy days the wait time rarely exceeds 30 minutes. Have some funny jokes ready to text in. Near the end of the show, they share a couple jokes from ones sent in from guests.
Astro Orbiter – At the center of Tomorrowland, a tower glowing with rings of flashing, changing colors serves as a beacon to guests, who can board machine-age rockets and take a spin on Astro Orbiter. Looking more like a Buck Rogers toy than a NASA Space Shuttle, the attraction surrounds passengers with whirling planets during a swing through space.
Ride Tips: This ride does not offer a Fastpass+. It is easier to get on in the morning but the views from the ride at night are spectacular. This ride is similar to Dumbo so kids can ride this!

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress This musical comedy show has been seen by more guests than any other theatrical presentation in the history of American Theater since its debut at the 1964 World’s Fair. The show traces the impact of technological progress on Americans’ daily living from the start of the 20th century into the near future with a cast of family characters brought to life through Disney’s Audio-Animatronics effects.
Ride Tips: There is rarely a wait for this attraction. This is a great spot to take a midday break in because of the air conditioning. Look for the Hidden Mickeys in the final scene.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – A slow-moving ride through Tomorrowland where you go inside Space Mountain and around the other attractions.

Ride Tips: This ride does not offer Fastpass+. This ride gets very busy in the heat of the day as people want to take a break. You cannot ride this ride if you are bound to a wheelchair/scooter. There is a moving ramp that takes you up to the ride and back.
Tomorrowland Speedway – An experience where you drive your own car around a twisting track. This is especially fun for kids as they can be the driver!
The Purple Wall – Though not an official attraction, well maybe it is since it now has its’ own merchandise, The Purple Wall is located between Tomorrowland Terrance and Monster Inc. Laugh Floor. It is a great place for selfies and Instagram pictures! Disney World recently painted a fun new design on the wall. The reason this spot is so awesome is that the light hits the wall perfectly during the day.
Tron Coaster – Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced during D23 Expo that the most popular attraction at Shanghai Disneyland is coming to Walt Disney World Resort. A thrilling, Tron-themed attraction will be added in a new area near Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park.
An open date has not been announced for this as of yet. I will update this post when more information becomes available. I am hoping for a 2021 opening so it will be there for the Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary.

Buzz Lightyear – Currently Buzz Lightyear meets guests just to the left of his ride.
Tomorrowland Dining
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe – Quick service dining location that has different “bays” for you to get your meals. There is seating inside and outside. The seating inside lets you enjoy the Sonny Eclipse Show which is an animatronic that plays music, sings, and tells jokes. Mobile Ordering is available.
Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies – If you are looking for a cool treat, this place has what you want including floats, soft-serve ice cream, and smoothies.
Cool Ship Cooling Station – Small beverage stand that has churros and hot dogs.
The Lunching Pad at Rockertower Plaza – Small menu selection including a BBQ pork sandwich, hot dogs, flavored pretzels, chips and assorted beverages. Mobile ordering is available.
Tomorrowland Terrace – This quick service location is usually only opened during peak times. They serve burgers and sandwiches. This is where the Fireworks Dessert party is located.
Tomorrowland Gift Shops
Tomorrowland has 2 gift shops, Mickey Star Traders and Merchant of Venus. At these gift shops, you will find sunblock if you forgot it or ran out. You will also find space-themed Disney items, and Stitch and Buzz Lightyear Items.
