TradeAid Integrated, a long-time CFTC partner in Ghana, has been the driving force behind bringing the Fair trade movement to Ghana. And, they are bringing the work of Ghana’s artisans to the rest of the world.

Bolgatanga is known as the ‘craft capital of northern Ghana’. In 2014, TradeAid led the successful effort to make Bolgatanga Africa’s second Fair Trade Town.

Since then, the Bolgatanga International Crafts and Arts Fair (BICAF) has showcased the talents of the Upper East Region’s renowned crafts people. This includes the Women basket weavers supported generously by CFTC and its donors.

TradeAid links artisans to fair trade markets internationally. Their work has resulted in a vibrant network of basket weaving groups throughout the Upper East Region. The majority are women who had been living in poverty. These women are now earning, learning and leading their families on a path to a brighter future.

Many of them will be featuring their work in the fourth annual BICAF to be held in Bolgatanga from November 30th to December 1st, 2017.
