When people ask my what my favourite type of make up is, I used to say, everything. Now these days I would say…lipstick. Closely followed by many other beauty products but for a quick hit, it has to be a luxury lipstick.
Gone are the days of buying several cheap lipsticks from Korea – I might only buy one new lipstick a month but I’ll make it something I really want. Last month I really wanted The Queen lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury, so I slapped down £24 for the privilege.
Side thought – when you spend only £24 you have to pay for shipping. But you know what reduces the trauma of paying for shipping when you are so used to Amazon-same-day-Prime-at-no-extra-cost? Getting a s*it load of samples. CT gives you so many samples it’s actually confusing. I got 3 lipstick samples, a fragrance and 2 skincare sachets when I bought ONE lipstick.
The Queen was once a limited edition shade (I missed out the first time around) that is exclusive to the CT website. It is made in the Matte Revolution formula which I like (it’s what I would call a comfortable matte that never looks too extreme). The Queen looks like a red from the distance but is actually a rich deep rose Pink which I swear, still looks red on some people. On me it is definitely a fuchsia pink.
Swatches. Every time I buy a bold lipstick I kick myself. I no longer wear deathly nudes but I don’t wear deep or reddish shades either. I tend to keep the lips rosy, mauve, sweet pink. I waste these type of shades as I put them on then ponder as to whether I look too over dressed for play group.
But am I feeling The Queen? I am feeling it.
This shade of pink is exactly the type of pink my mum used to wear. Bright. Sort of a little 80s. Well, the Queen is 90, you know. There is a pink in this family of pinks which would look so dated and aged but this particular shade is not that. What I mean is, applied and bitted you can totally do this for play group if that is your bag and you can layer this for a glam – almost – red lipstick.
Here I am wearing it blotted on – it looks very pink on me:
I don’t know is this is back for good or not, but if you want it I would buy it sooner rather than later. Available on the Charlotte Tilbury website.
