5 Nail Trends for 2017 #atouchofluxury

Tags: nail

I am a huge admirer of those who always have immaculately painted nails, mainly because I never seem to have time to paint mine – but do I have dreams of being able to give them a coat or two of lacquer? Of course! I think polished nails or Nail art immediately make you feel a bit more glam, a bit like wearing a bit of lipstick or putting on some heels.

With that in mind I am going to talk about some nail trends for 2017 and just generally cool ideas for making your nails look that bit more special.

1. Colour Blocking

Whilst colour blocking nails isn’t new, the shades or patterns you can do vary from season to season.  TFor 201 choose bold contrasts or completely unexpected combinations. Remember to buy some cheap and cheerful tools to help you with colour blocking – you can buy nail tape on a roll which is economical and lasts forever for creating lines.  You can also buy stencils and nail stampers (or if you are on a budget, use sellotape and a make up sponge – just remember to let the polish dry between layers!).

Don’t forget you can also buy nail stickers that you leave on and create super sharp lines – which can be easier than painting them on if you are unsteady.

2. Chrome Powders

Again, not necessarily something new but nearly everyone I know who loves nails were deserpate to get their nails chimed up!

These super find dust powders are buffed in to a painted nail and create the most amazing mirror like finish.  Rather than just going for the obviously metallics like gold and silver, why not try some pastel metallics or mix up some metallic with matte finish polish?

3. Pastel Rainbow

Everyone loves pastel nails (remember when everyone went crazy for mint green?) but how about candy coloured rainbow nails.  It’s cute but cheerful and sweet too.  If you don’t want to buy 5 different shades you can alternate colours or paint your nails randomly.  Symmetry isn’t always necessary with this fun look!

4. Cuticle Edging

For a surprising edgy but easy look, do a layer of clear polish (which is super easy right?) Then get a contrast colour or metallic – can be a polish or a pen – and add it to the edges of your nails.  Remember to use a thin brush, and glitters and bold shades will work well for this look.

5. Spots and Dots

For a really easy nail art look that looks chic, apply a nude base colour and add a perfect black do to the base of the nail (or wherever you like). It’s simple but eye catching.

One of my favourite nail brands is Essie nail polish, because of the shade range, the generous sized bottles and the quality.  I’ve had some Essie polishes in my collection for years and they’ve lasted well.  You can also find some good deals for the nail polishes online!  You can get a large selection of  Essie nail polish here.
