How healthy are the salmon in our local creeks and watershed?
Come to the Burien Community Center from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 6 to hear findings from the Community Salmon Investigation (CSI) for Highline.
Mary Eidmann from the City of Burien will share how you can get involved to help clean up polluted runoff.
You will learn about:
- The CSI: Highline program, carried out by volunteer citizen scientists
- Adult salmon returns for chum and coho salmon in two local streams since 2010
- Local citizens who conducted the surveys, and how they did it
- Key factors affecting salmon and stream health, including polluted runoff
- How many coho salmon died before spawning, and why
- New efforts to clean up stormwater pollution and how you can contribute
- How you can become a salmon CSI surveyor this fall
