America was founded by a group of immigrants, who protested perceived and/ or actual oppression, and sought, to create, a nation, where all people are created equal, and our pledge committed, to liberty and justice, for all. Only in the 1950’s were the words, under God, added to our Pledge, and placed, between, one nation, and, with liberty, etc. Our Founding Fathers were concerned with the potential dangers, involved, if there wasn’t a clear separation, of church, and state. As our nation evolved, many other issues, became concerning, and additional amendments were added to the original Constitution. Originally, neither women, nor African – Americans, were provided with the equal rights, guaranteed to others, but these neglected situations, were amended, formally, at a later time. Therefore, when any political group, wraps itself around, what they refer to as a strict – Constitutional interpretation, this is often, little more than a political ploy, in order to advance a particular personal/ political agenda, and/ or self – interest. The U.S.A. is supposed to be the United States of America, yet, we witness, significant differences, in the rights, granted, etc, from state, to state. Wouldn’t freedom, justice and liberty, be better – served, if the goal of our elected officials, was to UNIFY? However, in today’s, America, we are witnessing more, and more rhetoric and vitriol, and appeals to biases and prejudice, rather than uniting us, for the common good. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly consider, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why this might make a significant difference, for the better.
1. United; urgings; useful: If the American people were united, rather than increasingly polarized, and politician’s urgings, were for more civil behaviors, etc, their service might be far more useful, and beneficial, in a relevant, sustainable, realistic manner.
2. Needs; nerve; nicer: Whose needs, should our public officials, focus on? Rather than, merely, looking backward, with rose – colored glasses, we’d be better served, if they had the nerve, to stand up, for principles, rather than constantly, focus, merely on politics, etc. Wouldn’t it be nice, if everyone sought to treat others (whether they agree, or disagree), nicer, and with respect?
3. Integrity; ideas; ideals; imagination: Few, today, believe, our political leaders, maintain absolute integrity, and, in fact, President Trump, according to political fact – checkers, has, either lie, or misstated facts, an average of over 6 times, per day. Rather than merely, articulating the same – old, same – old, rhetoric, we need, leaders, with vision, and viable ideas, which align with the core ideals, our nation, was founded, on. Only when we elect, people with a well – guided, imagination, will we see, a more unified society.
4. Foresight; future; furnish; fruition; facts: We witness, manipulated, fake facts, when we need, truth, and real facts! Only leaders, with relevant foresight, will make the difference, we need. They must furnish the leadership, which brings, a better society, to fruition, and furnishes us, with less hatred, and vitriol, and more commitment, to liberty and justice, to all, rather than selectively!
5. Your; you; yes: When about half of eligible voters, don’t vote, instead of saying, yes, to democracy, they are avoiding their responsibly, to doing their part! Your involvement, concern, and willingness, to dig deeper, and demand better, will either make us, stronger, or worse! In the final analysis, it’s up to you!
Wake up, America, and demand our leaders, do more, to UNIFY, rather than polarize! Will you take personal responsibility?
