Rise Of Mobile Gaming In India!

Playing games on the Mobile phone is the most popular pass time for younger generations. The Mobile Gaming market is growing rapidly as it is most preferred by the casual gamers. Though the mobile phones are not the most convenient source of gaming. But, it’s the most economical one. Hence most preferred also.


With the growing smartphone users around the world, mobile gaming is also on an upswing. The growth rate is even higher in term of the Indian market. India has 481 million internet users as of December 2017 and expected to reach 500 million by June 2018.  This adds more twist into the Mobile Gaming Market share.


The mobile gaming market revenue is all set to reach US$52.6 billion globally by 2020, as per Gemological Institute of America (GIA) report, and its expected to reach $1.1 billion in India alone. Mobile gaming will represent 50% share in video game market by 2020, the report further added. The factors behind the market boom include an increase in smartphone users, affordable internet services, changing usage habits and tastes of users and introduction of next-gen technologies like Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), 3D gaming etc.


Mobile devices may not be the preferred device choice for passionate gamers, but most preferred by those majority casual gamers. And the number of casual gamers are increasing rapidly. Only mobile gaming apps represent up to 25% of all apps in Apple’s App Store.


The first game to be featured on a phone was ‘Tetris’ in 1994, but the most popular and game changer mobile video game is Nokia’s ‘Snake’ game launched in 1997. The Snake game in Nokia phones became so popular in that time that some users buy Nokia Phones just for its Snake game. In recent times there are millions of mobile games in different genres available on different app stores. Pokémon Go and Clash Royale are top grossing games on Google’s play store globally. Other popular games in India includes 8 Ball Pool, Temple Run, Candy Crush Saga, Subway Surfers, Mobile Legends and most popularly Ludo King.
