Voice of Gypsy Pastor

Pastor D. John Chidambaram, B.Th.,
(Founder & President)
I was born in a Hindu family with brothers and sisters. We are Gypsy and people called us as 'Narikuravars', because our profession is hunting the animals. Our monetary earnings for our lively-hood is selling the animal skins, beeds etc. We can live in any place, even though the place is unhygienic. We do not have any permanent house, permanent place. Moving from one place to another. No future plan for our life. We are all live in groups. We worship Hindu God "Kali" and we offer the Blood of Bull to Kali. At the time of worship, we cut the head of the Bull and drink the blood in front of Kali.

My life was going on like that. One day I was happened to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ in one of the convention held in our area Trichy. I was touched by the Word of God. Something inspired me to do to change our community to convey the same message of God to my group people. At the beginning it was totally vain. No response.

But my heart and mind repeating the same thing that is "Jesus Christ was died for our sins. He gave up His life for us. What we have done to God?". The answer is nothing. So we are all wasting our time and money to recover from our sins. But Jesus Christ gave the redemption for our sins. It is totally free. No strain or pain. Simple.

Only thing is to:
  1. Accept and believe Jesus Christ as our Saviour.
  2. Give up our sins and do not do again.
  3. Baptise in the name of Jesus Christ.
These points changed my life and I left my group (Gypsy) and join the Bible college with the help of Christian brothers and after few years I returned back to my people.

I built a small church in our village to worship the Lord Jesus. But I was beaten and I suffered many troubles from our community. But I never give up my mind back. Day by day, by the continuous gospel message and prayer in streets of my village young children, youth (boys and girls) came to me to hear the Gospel, stories in the Bible, songs. They were in pleasure in worshipping Jesus Christ and had a peace in their life.

Later on, their parents came to church one by one. Some sick people were cured by the Spirit of God and their miracles changed the way of many gypsy people worship our Lord Jesus Christ.

The people who accepted Jesus Christ  as their Saviour were gone through lot of persecutions. They were beaten up and rejected among our own community. But the Lord worked in their hearts. Many missionaries from our community are rising and going to villages for sharing the Gospel.

Now our Lord Jesus Christ brought more believers in my church, and 90% of my community people abstain from worshipping the "Kali" idol and now they are believers of life giving God our Lord Jesus Christ! Amen. Praise the Lord!

I remember the following verse and thanks to my Lord Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah 16: 16
Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

as per the above verse, God changed many Gypsy people to minister His service.
