Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Property Control and Inventory Officer is responsible 
for the following duties: Provide advice on all matters related to the policy and procedures
 governing the Management of the United Nations Property during its life cycle; 
Ensure timely monitoring of the integrity of UNOE records in the mission; 
Act as substantive focal point for the Galileo Inventory Management System; 
Provide business intelligence expertise in utilizing and enhancing inventory 
management analytical tools, development of mission-specific key performance 
indicators and mission action plans on property management; Research, compile, 
formulate, draft and publish Standard Operating Procedures and flow charts 
relating to all aspects of PCIU activities; Ensure that accurate and auditable
 records, in both hard and electronic format, are maintained for property control
 and accountability in conformance with policies and procedures; Monitor accuracy 
of PCIU statistics maintained in the mission asset management database; 
Identify issues and implement solutions to problematic areas of the asset control process;
 Perform other duties as required.

Technological Awareness - Solid computer skills, including proficiency in using software designed for inventory management and ability to produce statistical reports. Client Orientation - Ability to identify clients’ needs and find appropriate solutions. Communications - Proven ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively, including the ability to prepare reports and conduct presentations by clearly formulating positions on issues, articulating options, conveying the maximum necessary information, making and defending recommendations. Teamwork - Proven interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.



QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Advance University degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field. A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant progressively responsible experience. Previous inventory control experience in Peacekeeping Missions is an advantage. Project management experience is beneficial and proven ability in analytical work is essential. Proficiency in computer applications relevant to asset management and familiarity with database management is essential. Excellent drafting and report writing skills are desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English is essential; knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage and sometimes a requirement.
