Installing Dishwasher

Q:

I am installing a Dishwasher which comes complete with cold water hose and waste hose (both 2.5m long).
The position for the dishwasher requires Hoses to be 4m long to allow withdrawal of dishwasher from under worktop.
Are hose connections universal such that I can buy 4m long hoses and replace?
Or can I buy adaptors to extend hoses with another set of 2m hoses?

Not done much plumbing but this is a relatively small thing so want to complete myself. Any help / advice you can give would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Tom Stewart

Hi Tom

Yes you can get extended dishing machine hoses for the inlet and outlets, you need both. If you let your local plumbing suppliers (not DIY store!) know what you are wanting to do they can sell you these. The hoses are usually extended with a inserted spigot which joins the outlet hoses. Make sure you use jubilee clips to secure them. You need to check before you do this that your dishwasher is able to pump 4m via a hose. You may need to run a 42mm waste pipe for the outlet.

Call the manufacturer to find this out or check in the manual to find out the maximum distance you can run a hose. You should be ok , its a lot easier to use hoses than run the 42mm waste.

Good Luck Tom
