An Ojai man will spend 180 days in the Los Angeles County Jail for a domestic violence conviction. The man, 23, pleaded no contest to felony assault stemming from an altercation with his former girlfriend. In addition to his jail term, he will serve three years of probation and take a 52-week domestic violence education class. He must also make restitution and have no contact with the victim for 10 years.

The assault took place at the woman’s Westlake Village apartment in April. According to the victim, the assault left her with a concussion and a traumatic brain injury. In addition, the woman said she suffers from depression as a result of the attack.

The man is an amateur MMA fighter, and has a record of 3-1. He has been involved in the sport since 2015, but has not yet had a professional fight. Prior to MMA fighting, the man had been a recognized high school football player.
