Medical / Surgical Assistant – Dermatology
Our client, located in Bryan, TX, is in immediate need of a Medical/Surgical Assistant for a Direct Hire opportunity.

Your Role:
The main function of this role is to provide support to Medical professionals in multiple settings. This position is based in Bryan, TX, but will be required to travel to Houston, TX as well.
Responsible for gathering patient information before surgery
Take vitals
Prepare the patients for their medical visit by showing them to the exam, procedure or operation room
Review the surgical consent forms with the patient
Record all of the patients’ medical history, meds, allergies, and vital signs into the EHR software
Set up sterile surgical tray
Assist with surgery
Assist with numbing of the patient’ s skin
Collect blood, tissues and other lab specimens
Explain procedures to patients
Explain about surgery follow-up
Clean surgical instruments
Schedule appointments
Change dressings on wounds

Background Profile:
1+ Medical Assistant experience
Previous experience with Mohs surgery is highly preferred
Knowledge of different types of skin cancer is highly preferred
Know how to operate an oxygen tank
Previous surgery experience is required
Medical Assistant certified by the CAAHEP or ABHES or another recognized accreditation
