Case Summary:
North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) filed an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) Petition on behalf of a project scientist from South Korea. It was initially transferred to another service center and we had to raise a service request on our client’s behalf. Furthermore, our client contacted his congressperson after waiting nearly a year from the date of filing. Despite the speedbumps, we are pleased that our client finally obtained petition approval.
What did we include in the I-140 petition package?
Amongst other things, we included our client’s publication record that consisted of 10 peer-reviewed journal articles (7 of them first-authored), cited a total of 274 times. This consistent output has been a result of his various research projects focused on understanding novel molecular targets for chemotherapy and test drug combinations that can help to improve the efficacy of anti-cancer drugs. We also detailed the over 20 peer reviews which he conducted for prominent academic journals in the Field of biomedical engineering.
By incorporating all of the aforementioned achievements into the NIW petition packet, we were able to prove that our client’s studies greatly benefit the United States—a belief which was also shared by various experts in the field, several of whom contributed letters of recommendation. As an example, the following statement was made by one of the recommenders: “[Client] has been actively contributing to the field of translational research, especially as it applies to novel options for cancer treatment, for approximately a decade…With this respectable record of achievement to date, I am certain that [his] current projects will prove equally important to the growth of this field and the health of people around the globe.”
We are pleased that our hard work paid off the in the form the national interest waiver. We thank our client for working with us, and we wish him the best as he continues to advance the important field of biomedical engineering.
