When Donald Trump hosted GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling)

An Atlantic City Trump facility would host another professional wrestling card in between WrestleMania IV and V. The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) would descend upon the Trump Castle on Sunday October 30th 1988 at 2pm. A GLOW wrestling card in the ballroom was certainly a lower key affair when compared with a WWF super show.

GLOW was in the national consciousness at the time as a highly- rated syndicated program featuring campy women‘s characters and subtly selling sex in the form of women‘s grappling. Characters on GLOW programming included three versions of ―The Farmer‘s Daughter, Mt. Fiji, Matilda the Hun and Palestina.

The Trump Castle sent a postcard to those on their mailing list featuring one image of Lynn Braxton (aka Big Bad Mama, a large woman in painted face and house dress) and another image of a woman in Spandex workout clothing getting bitten on the ankle by a fellow grappler. Seemingly, gamblers could get in to the event for free by calling to RSVP (two per postcard, please).

It is not clear how many high rollers took Trump Castle up on its offer but the ballroom (a smaller location than GLOW had typically been holding shows in at the time) was packed according to Dawn Maestas, known as Godiva. The event was run similar to other GLOW non-televised events, with no specific modifications requested by Trump Castle‘s management.

Donald Trump was not in attendance at the event, but his presence was certainly felt. A skit was taped with Helena LaCount (aka Daisy) going on a date‖with Donald Trump called a Date to Remember. Daisy was most distinguishable for a daisy painted on her face. In the skit, wrestlers Michelle Javas, known as Stinky, Jeanne Basone, known as Hollywood, and Big Bad Mama helped to prepare Daisy for her big evening. A shot of Trump Castle was shown with the girls relaxing on beds in the hotel room. Before Daisy received word that Trump wants to take her to dinner, the girls wanted to sell‖ her to the hotel as a waitress or maid. The girls didn't want to miss seeing the date for all of the money in the world, ―especially Donald Trump‘s. Daisy finally left in a limo, seemingly to meet up with Trump.

Not mentioned in the skit was Trump‘s marriage to Ivana.
