DeSantis withdraws Washington’s appointment to BOG

Yesterday, Gov. Ron DeSantis withdrew the appointment of Nicole Washington to the Florida Board of Governors (BOG).

Washington’s selection was one of 76 appointment decisions that former Gov. Rick Scott made during his last month in office. DeSantis withdrew a total of 46 of those appointments on Friday.

DeSantis said that all the individuals whose appointments were rescinded are welcome to reapply for the positions.

Washington, a former member of the Florida A&M University Board of Trustees, will remain on the BOG unless DeSantis replaces her with someone else or two legislative sessions pass without her appointment being confirmed by the Florida Senate. Scott appointed her to a term that runs from January 7, 2019 through January 6, 2026.

DeSantis also withdrew Scott’s appointments of Zachariah P. Zachariah, Jay S. Patel, and Frederic V. Salerno to the BOG.
