Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law Interim Dean LeRoy Pernell was featured in an Orlando Business Journal (OBJ) electronic article entitled “Celebrating Black History Month: How LeRoy Pernell became the longest-serving black law school dean in the nation.” The article was published in the February 7, 2018 edition.
The article is featured as part of a special online series of stories in celebration of Black History Month in which the publication asked business leaders in the Central Florida region to share some poignant part of their personal story and the impact it had on the direction of their lives.
Pernell comments that when he was the permanent head of FAMU Law from 2008 to 2015, he “was the longest-serving black law dean in the nation.”
“My need to speak out on behalf of those who could not speak effectively for themselves, combined with the need for civil and human rights, drove me through college and law school,” Pernell said.
