Big Data and AI –The Future of Drone Analytics Market

The use of Big Data has increased tremendously over the past decade, and has been embraced by several organizations. Over the years, Big Data has proved its usefulness in several sectors and has gained popularity over a wide variety of sectors. Another technology that has grown simultaneously is the use of Drones. These two separate trends may appear to have very little in common, but in reality, they are on a collision course, which could lead to unique and innovative solutions for a wide variety of global problems. They have been put into practice in some sectors, and have yielded valuable results. Although it seems to be a real-time solution for many industrial problems, bringing Big Data and Drones together has its own challenges associated with it, especially in terms of data security. Experts in the field of Drone Analytics are working to overcome these challenges, in order to realize the full potential of drones.

Drones have also proved to be vital in disaster management. For instance, in 2014, during a mudslide in Washington, workers used a drone with a camera attached on it to collect data and create 2D and 3D models, which proved to be useful during reconstruction. Drones can also be used in rescue efforts during calamities, by spotting survivors.

It is clear that Big Data and drones can accomplish a lot together, but challenges still remain. Drones gather large amounts of data through videos and pictures, but the immensity of the amount of data, in itself, is a considerable challenge. A single Air Force ISR mission can generate up to 70 tb of data, and requires several applications to correct, process, and properly evaluate the data. Real-time drone analytics need to improve, and is expected to require several upgrades to be able to handle such large amounts of data and provide accurate analysis. Once the obstacles are removed, drone analytics can prove to be a powerful force in solving a number problems, across the globe.
