The nature of the job or position one is seeking, generally determines the type of preparation one would carry out. A technical interview would require the candidate to be up to date with the knowledge of his specific field. On the other hand, an interview at a managerial position would require the candidate to give an overall account of one’s experience at the organization.


There are certain tips that one can seek in order to prepare for a job interview .


1. Work prior to the interview. Preparation stands correct for an interview if good amount of home work is done. In case one does not have a perspective on the interview, it becomes difficult to identify how to go about preparing.

Dress up well. An important part of the preparation would be to put up a good first impression in front of the interviewer. A neat and smart look helps catch the attention of the employer.

Presentation of information. In front of the interviewer one should be able to provide information that is relevant and authentic. Never lie in an interview. This can mar the chance of you getting through the interview round.

Always have a fair idea on the generally asked questions in an interview. Try to have a rough sketch of questions that you can expect in an interview. For example: please let me know more about yourself.

Confidence is one of the most important components of any preparation. Never be bogged down by the fear of losing out on an interview before appearing for one. Always face the interviewer with a confident smile. Also never allow the interviewer to put you down on any point unnecessarily.


Make sure that the references you get for yourself, are authentic and someone you can depend on. This is of prime importance as you people get through several interviews based on the references they receive. A reference can be fetched either from an old employer, supervisor or a person working in the same organization. Never create fake references as if they get cross checked, you lose your credibility in front of the client due to this.

Always be ready with the necessary documents for a given interview. This would be required for any given interview. Documents should always be up to date before you leave for an interview.
