A Better Way Insurance Agency will shop up to 30 of the top insurers in Nevada to find you an auto insurance policy that is affordable and has the right coverage for you.

Auto Insurance 101
Your auto insurance policy may feature some or all of the following coverage's:

Bodily Injury (BI) Liability (Nevada requires that you carry BI limits of at least $ 15,000 per person, $ 30,000 per accident) BI pays others for injury, when you are responsible for an accident. It does not cover injuries to the driver of your car or passengers in your car.

What Liability Limits should I get?
When deciding how much liability coverage to buy, it's important to understand that this coverage protects your personal assets – (your savings, your property) when you cause an Accident and are held legally liable for injuries to other people. A serious accident can result in medical expenses that exceed your policy limits, making you personally responsible for the excess amounts.

No house, no dependents and not much in the bank? The state minimum limits of liability might be enough, however, we recommend getting minimum limits of $25,000 per person/$50,000 per accident coverage. Also, remember that even if you don't have assets currently, you could put your future assets and earnings at risk if you don't have enough insurance.

Own a home, have a family and modest savings? We recommend getting $50,000 per person/$100,000 per accident liability coverage. It may not cost much to increase to even higher limits ($100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident), which will protect you as your assets grow.

Bigger house, teen drivers, investments or other properties? We recommend getting the highest limits available from your insurer usually $250,000 per person/$500,000 per accident. And, if you have significant personal assets, consider buying a personal umbrella policy to protect you if an accident exceeds the limits on your auto policy.

Property Damage (PD) Liability (Nevada requires that you carry PD limits of at least $ 10,000) PD pays others for damage to their car or other property, when you are responsible for an accident. It does not cover damage to your own car.

Uninsured /Underinsured Motorists (UM/UIM) protects you in an accident caused by someone who doesn't have any insurance or inadequate insurance coverage.

You should always buy UM/UIM coverage. It is estimated that at least 1 in 6 drivers in Nevada is uninsured, why take a chance that one of them will hit you?

Medical Payments coverage protects the driver and passengers without regard to fault. Limits are generally less than $10,000.

Collision. This covers the damage that is caused to your car from a collision with another vehicle. It is sometimes covers road hazards as well such as damage-causing potholes.

Comprehensive. This covers damage to your vehicle that is caused by something another than an accident with another vehicle such as hail, fire, vandalism, falling objects, etc.

What if I decide to go without Auto Insurance?

No Insurance = No Registration & Higher Rates. In Nevada, proof of insurance is required for your vehicle registration and, of course, when you have an accident. The penalties include suspension, fines and often the requirement that you file proof of insurance for 3 years, in the form of an SR-22 filing. An SR-22 will usually result in higher premiums. A lapse in coverage will also result in higher rates when you do purchase coverage again.
