Becoming a virtual assistant

Becoming a Virtual Assistant simply means that you, as your own buisness owner, provides administrative support to other buisnesses from your home or office. The nice part about this is that you can work with companies all around the country or even around the world.

Most virtual assistants work with the administrative aspects of assistance and they provide services such as word processing, editing, proofreading, document creation, scheduling, event management, file organization and other similar tasks. Some are also more experienced, and do tasks like shopping cart setup and maintenance, website maintenance, autoresponder management, blog posting, etc. THings that are important for online buisnesses.

To become a buisness owner and go into the field of virtual assistant one must at least be knowledgeable with the office based software programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. - and the Internet.Othervise one will not last long in this field of work. But these are easy too learn and most cities have classes were you can learn these skils.

The best part of being an virtual assistant is that you set you're own houres and buisness rates, but I'll recomend that rather than pulling a rate out of thin air, you utilize established business formularies to determine a profitable rate for your business. These formularies take into consideration, among other things, the amount of salary you expect to earn, administrative costs (non-billable time), anticipated expenses, operating costs and capital outlay. You also need to factor into the calculations the value of your time and expertise.

My mentor Paige Jackson can tell you everything you need to know on how too proceed in your way to becoming a virtual assistant and your own boss.
