5 MORE Ways to Increase Productivity

I published an article last year on my blog, and then repurposed it on LinkedIn earlier this year. Boy did it resonate with my readers! Which really isn’t surprising, as the article was about Productivity Tips. Who among us isn’t trying to find as many hours in the day as we possibly can?

That article was called 7 Productivity Tips for Online Marketers, and I thought today I’d share a few more productivity tips with you, hence the catchy name for this post.

To recap, the seven productivity tips included in that article included:

  • Tracking analytics
  • Using an editorial calendar
  • Scheduling your updates
  • Using a dedicated browser for social media
  • Setting a timer
  • Recycling your old content
  • Tracking your activities

Now, for a few more tips to help you make the most out of each day.

Take plenty of scheduled breaks. Yes, taking breaks would seem to contradict the idea of being productive, but, if you schedule breaks into your day, you’ll be more focused during the time in between. Try scheduling your work in 45-minute chunks, followed by a 5 or 10-minute break. 45 minutes is a good amount of time to ask your brain to focus on the same task.

Tackle tiny tasks right away. If you have a task on your list that will only take a minute or two, just do it. Those little things like replying to an email or making a phone call can take longer to put off until later than they would to just get ‘em done. So, if the task looks like it will take less time to do than put off, do it now!

Turn off your social media notifications. Nothing can lead you down a rabbit hole of distractions like the dinging of all those Social Media notifications. You know those pings and dings that call out to you – beckoning you into the abyss of social media! To reduce your interruptions exponentially, update your settings so you’re not bombarded by dinging and little red circles all over your phone.

Automate where you can. If you can use a system or tool to do a job for you, do it! There are many automation tools out there that can automate your social media tasks, freeing up hours in your week. Two of my favorites are Missinglettr and Hootsuite.  Most of us are aware of Hootsuite and the many ways it will help automate your social media tasks. Missinglettr is another that has made my life so much easier. There are, of course, many others out there that will help you regain your life and automate your social media. You just need to find the one that works best for you. Think of how much more productive you could be if you had tools like these in place!

Outsource and delegate. The world is moving so fast it’s almost impossible to keep up with everything you need to be doing, let alone everything you should be doing. If you want to boost your productivity by a zillion percent (unscientific number) outsource. Outsource your social media marketing, your email marketing, your bookkeeping, your project management. Get help with your content creation, and PR, and so on and so forth. Are there any tasks you’re doing now that you don’t love? That are eating up your time? Why aren’t you outsourcing them to a professional? Sure, it will be an expense, but it will be an investment in the success of your business, and in the protection and conservation of your most precious commodity (time!)
