Getting indexed on Google can seem tricky at first, but it does not have to be an impossible task. Once indexed on Google your website is much more likely to receive higher traffic through organic searches. Of course none of the ways discussed here guarantee that Google will index your site, but you should feel confident your website will be indexed if you practice at least a portion of the ideas.

1. Create a website worth visiting - Google looks for content that is relative to what people actually want to find. If you put up a website about your family vacations there is no way you will receive high traffic. Why would people specifically search for your family vacations? On the other hand if you made a more general website that give information about vacation information to different destinations your website has an opportunity to be helpful to readers. Google will be much more likely to pick up your site since it is more relevant to what people would be looking for.

2. Use Google's Webmaster Tools - Google has a very convenient site for webmasters, which allows you to authenticate your site and make sure that Google is not having any problems crawling your web pages. You will be instructed to upload a document so that Google can verify the website to be yours. Once your site is authenticated you will see valuable information begin to appear inside your webmaster tools account. Information such as indexed webpages, keywords people use to find your site, and a list of inbound links to your website.

3. Submit a sitemap - Google's webmaster tools also allows users to submit a sitemap, which is a list of every webpage linking to the home page. Free sitemaps can be created through a simple sitemap search on Google. Once you download your sitemap you can upload it as a file on your website. After a successful upload, let Google webmaster tools know where to locate the sitemap. Once Google has your sitemap, your webpages have a higher probability of being included in the crawl.

4. Link Building - Create inbound links to your website. Your site will be indexed quicker as the number of relevant links to your website increases. Sites that have already been crawled by Google will see your website link and be able to crawl your site. The more links going into your site shows that your webpages are relevant to what people want to find. Your domain receives more authority when other important website link to yours.

As you follow these steps your website will be indexed by Google. If you are having any troubles getting indexed, there is a good chance you have not waited long enough. With billions of web pages it takes time to index. As you deliver quality content Google will find your website.
