Video is Going Crazy

In this blog, I’ve documented many places where video is invading our everyday lives–from urinals to church, from the candy shop to the back of airline seats. Video is pervasive and its power is unmatched.

At the National Association of Broadcasters convention, video is proving to be the best way to communicate. A couple of things that really surprised me were the video Cube display and 8K video.

Ultra high-definition is coming (there are even rumors of 10k cameras). So first it will be in the high-end video cameras and soon it will trickle down to the smaller cameras. When it does, even the tiniest of cameras can deliver a super high definition image that can be manipulated and enlarged beyond our dreams. One frame of 8k video can be a 100MB; now Imagine 24 of those per second. The storage math gets complicated. Imagine the resolution and imagine all the uses.

Next is the cube display. This photo does not do it justice, but just know it really looked and acted like a fountain of water. The way the video wrapped around the cubes was astonishing. Soon this tech will be on curve panels and on small desktop displays. Mind blown.

Video miniaturization was also on display, but the output on large mega screens and in new unconventional ways will have people watching your message in new and surprising ways. You can mail a video now, but soon you will be able to do it on a mass scale — and affordably.
