PitPoint Opens First CNG Station in Lisse

PitPoint BV, Netherlands-based operator of renewable natural gas (RNG) filling stations, has officially opened the first CNG Station in Lisse, southwest of Amsterdam. PitPoint is investing together with initiators in the production of green gas and, among other things, new refueling points for green gas / CNG, LNG are being opened.

RNG, or ‘green gas’, is extracted from organic matter, such as organic waste. “GFT [tr. organic] waste is fermented in our new processing installation. In addition, Green gas is released. You can use that to heat and you can drive on it”, said Anton van den Brink of waste collection company Meerlanden MV at the station opening.

By refueling green gas you stimulate the cycle of waste and energy in a very positive way. Ad Wijnhout, representing construction company AW Group, added: “For some years we have been running on biofuel that is extracted from our own waste. This way of mobility really completes the circle for us.”

The new Cng Station, located at Total Jongeneel ‘De Blinkerd’ in Lisse , is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Usual bank cards such as Maestro, VISA, Mastercard and Travelcard are accepted. Total of France  acquired PitPoint in mid 2017.

Clean Energy Hub at Hillegom

In the western Netherlands town of Hillegom, PitPoint has completed a clean energy hub for taxi company A-Tax de Vries, where vehicles can refuel with CNG as well as electrically. The Cng Filling Station and the loading plaza are connected to the same grid connection. PitPoint says that makes this so-called clean energy hub in Hillegom unique.

After the EV / CNG filling station in Haarlem for buses from Connexxion, this is the second project in a short time for PitPoint where the possibility of electric charging is combined with a CNG filling station.

An important factor in the realization of the energy hub was the good distribution of the flow capacity between the filling station and the charging stations. The CNG station generally requires little power but at times has a high peak load. That is why a lot of attention was paid to the communication between the CNG station and the loading square. This optimally uses the available capacity and prevents the grid connection from being overloaded. Niels Nobel, Product Manager at PitPoint: “We see an increasing need for customization in the market when it comes to charging infrastructure. We meet this need with creative and innovative solutions. ”
